As part of the Orfeó Català Choir School project, the Youth Choir consists of about fifty singers between the ages of 16 and 25. Concert performances are combined with musical training in order to prepare choir members to eventually join the Orfeó Català.

In every course, the choir combines the work of different programmes, both a capella and with instrumental accompaniment.

In recent years, the choir has performed diverse works such as the St. Nicolai Mass by Haydn, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Fanshawe's African Sanctus.

The Choir was founded in 1986 and was conducted by Conxita Garcia for the first 16 years. The conductor is currently Esteve Nabona with Josep Buforn accompanying on piano.

The choir’s repertoire ranges from traditional and popular music from Catalunya and other countries to literary symphonic choir pieces. In the arena of music for choir and orchestra the Choir has performed Vivaldi’s Gloria, Te Deum de Charpentier, Four Coronation Anthems, O sing unto the Lord and Händel's Utrecht Te Deum, Vivaldi's Magnificat, J. S. Bach's Magnificat, Haydn's Missa Sant Nicolau, Requiem, Mozart's Te Deum i Missa K. 192, Mendelssohn's Walpurgisnacht, Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem, C. Orff's Carmina Burana, and Fanshawe'sAfrican Sanctus.

In addition to the concert cycles at the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Choir has performed at several festivals such as the Barcelona International Days of Chorus Singing, the Cantonigròs International Festival and the Radio France Festival.

The Choir has played with the Barcelona and Catalunya National Symphonic Orchestra, The Vallès Symphonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Liceo Conservatory, The ESMUC Symphonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Island of La Palma, Kammerphilharmonie Merck, Frysk Jeugdorkest and the Terrassa 48 Chamber Orchestra.

They have performed all over Catalunya, Asturias, the Canary Islands, the Basque Country, Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands and has shared projects with other youth choirs from all over, such as those of the past few years with the University of Vienna Choir, the Cor Albada de l’Agrupació Cor Madrigal and the “Ametsa Gazte” of Irun.

During season 2008-2009, and commemorating the 250 anniversary of the death of G.F.Handel, the Cor Jove acted in cicle Palau 100 with The Sixteen Orchestra and Harry Christophers.

Of the future projects is possible to emphasize the collaboration with the Orquestra de Joves Intèrprets dels Països Catalans under the direction of Salvador Brotons .

The Youth Choir has been sponsored by Alianza since the 2000-2001 season.
